Travel Agency — Case Study
The Business

One Store, One Goal: Build a Trusted Travel Brand

I've managed this travel agency since 2022 — from day one, and across the entire business, not just its marketing. When we started, it was a single physical store. My role was to take ownership of everything that drives growth: strategy, advertising across Meta and Google, email marketing, the website, the systems behind the sales team, and the customer experience end-to-end.

Travel is a high-trust, high-ticket business. With a minimum ticketing cost of around $1,500, customers don't buy on impulse — they buy from a brand they believe in. That single reality shaped the entire strategy.

The Challenge

Overcoming the Trust Barrier

At an average ticket of $1,500, the biggest obstacle was never traffic — it was trust. People are cautious about handing over that kind of money to a travel agency they've only seen online. So before scaling ad spend, I built a strategy specifically designed to prove we were a real, established, community-rooted business.

The core insight: for a high-ticket travel brand, credibility has to be built in the real world before it converts online. Every channel we ran was chosen to signal legitimacy — not just to generate clicks.
The Strategy

A Multi-Channel Engine Built on Credibility

I built a full marketing strategy combining paid, organic, and offline channels. We launched organic posting alongside paid campaigns across Meta, Google, and TikTok — but the differentiator was pairing digital reach with real-world trust signals.

  • Paid + organic advertising: Meta Ads, Google Ads, and TikTok Ads running together, supported by consistent organic content.
  • Offline trust signals: newspaper placements, bus-back banners, and billboards to make the brand feel established and everywhere.
  • Community sponsorships: sponsoring local community events to show we support the community — not just sell to it.

This combination let us grow gradually and sustainably. Every offline touchpoint reinforced the online campaigns, so by the time a customer saw our ad, they'd often already seen the brand in their city.

Trust & Authority

Proving We Were the Real Deal

As sales grew, we doubled down on authenticity. I restructured the website to include a dedicated Events section, so visitors could see the community events we sponsor and verify for themselves that we're an active, real-world business — not just an online storefront.

  • Grew to 4 physical branches: customers can now buy online or walk into any of our four stores.
  • Google Business Profile: set up to build local visibility and collect reviews.
  • Trustpilot profile: created to give the agency independent, verifiable social proof.
  • Events page: showcasing our sponsorships as living proof of our community involvement.
Systems & Retention

A CRM to Know Every Passenger

As our customer base expanded, we grew the sales team and added a CRM to manage every passenger. The CRM let us see how many times each passenger had travelled and which country they belonged to — turning raw customer data into a real retention asset.

With that data, we launched targeted email marketing to re-engage past passengers with relevant offers based on their travel history and destination patterns. Retargeting our own customers became one of our most profitable channels — because they already trusted us.

Automation

An AI Chatbot That Never Misses a Lead

Giving fares manually was consuming huge amounts of the team's time. To fix the bottleneck, we integrated an AI chatbot that, right at the start of a chat, asks targeted questions to understand exactly what the traveller is looking for.

From there it collects all the key details — travel date, destination country, passenger name, passport information and more — and qualifies the enquiry into a "Hot Holiday" lead. That ready-to-sell lead is passed straight to the sales team with every detail already attached, so instead of starting from scratch they can respond instantly with the right fare.

The result: much faster response times and higher conversions — no enquiry slipped through the cracks, even at peak volume, because the team always had the full picture the moment a lead landed.

Meta Ads Performance

Real Facebook Campaign Results

The travel brand's growth is powered by a Meta Ads engine I build, manage, and optimize across multiple markets — India, Sri Lanka, Fiji, Pakistan, Nepal, Samoa, USA and more. Campaigns are built around messaging conversations that feed straight into the sales team and CRM. Below are the actual results, straight from Meta Ads Manager.

The Scaled Engine

The India ad set alone drove 6,551 messaging conversations from 2M+ impressions at a $3.13 cost per result. Across all active markets, campaigns generated over 14,600 conversations and 1,000+ tracked purchases in the first half of 2026.

Google Ads Performance

Real Google Ads Results

Alongside Meta, I run the agency's Google Ads — capturing high-intent travellers at the exact moment they search for flights and fares. Search, Performance Max, and remarketing campaigns feed qualified enquiries straight to the sales team. Below are the actual results, straight from Google Ads.

Capturing High-Intent Travellers

Search campaigns put the brand in front of people actively looking for tickets and fares — the highest-intent traffic there is, driving qualified enquiries straight to the sales team.

Turning Clicks Into Enquiries

Conversion-focused campaigns are optimized for calls and form fills, not just traffic — so every dollar of spend is measured against real leads reaching the sales team.

Remarketing re-engages people who visited the site but didn't enquire — recovering lost interest and keeping the brand top of mind until they're ready to book.

Respond.io · WhatsApp API

All Conversations on One Platform

As enquiries poured in across channels, chats were scattered and personal WhatsApp numbers kept hitting ban risks. To fix this, I brought in Respond.io with the official WhatsApp Business API — keeping every conversation on one platform, removing the ban problem entirely, and collecting every contact and chat directly into the CRM.

The result: with one unified inbox on the official API, no messages got lost and no numbers got banned. Response rates and the number of handled queries both went up — the team could reply faster and manage far more conversations in one place.

Team & Performance

A 22-Person Sales Team Built to Compete

We scaled the sales team to 22 people to handle the growing volume of fare requests. To keep performance sharp, I introduced a KPI system with performance-based bonuses — rewarding the team on results, not just activity.

The effect was immediate: healthy competition among the sales staff for bonuses pushed conversion and output higher across the board. The system aligned everyone's incentives with the business's growth.

The Outcome

From One Store to a Multi-Branch Business

By owning the entire growth system — strategy, ads, trust-building, CRM, automation, and team performance — the agency grew from a single store into a trusted, multi-branch travel brand selling both online and in person.
