Amazon A+ Content Case Study
The Client

A Listing That Stopped Selling at the Bullet Points

The brand had done the hard part — a solid product, a decent main image, and traffic arriving on the listing. But the moment a shopper scrolled past the buy box, the page went quiet. The description was a block of plain text that nobody reads on mobile, there was no brand story, and nothing gave a hesitant shopper a reason to choose this product over the near-identical options in the "customers also viewed" row.

That lower half of the page is where undecided shoppers go to make up their minds. Amazon A+ Content turns it from an afterthought into a second sales page — rich, visual modules that explain the product, build trust in the brand, and answer questions before they turn into a Back button. The listing had the space; it just wasn't using it.

The brief: design a complete A+ Content layout that tells the brand's story, sells the product's key benefits visually, and works as well on a phone as on desktop — approved by Amazon on the first submission.
The Challenge

Why the Bottom Half of the Listing Matters

Shoppers who scroll below the buy box are interested but not yet convinced. A plain-text description loses them. These were the gaps the A+ layout had to close.

  • A wall of text nobody reads: long product descriptions are skimmed at best on desktop and practically invisible on mobile. Visual modules get the same message across in seconds.
  • No brand identity: without a brand story, the product looked like every other generic listing — and shoppers default to the cheapest option when brands look interchangeable.
  • Unanswered questions: how it works, what's included, and why it's better were left for the shopper to work out — or to ask a competitor's listing instead.
  • Strict approval rules: A+ Content is manually reviewed. Pricing, promotional language, guarantees or competitor comparisons get a submission rejected and delay the listing upgrade.
The Approach

A+ Content Built as a Scrolling Story

The A+ section is read top to bottom, so it was planned as one continuous story rather than a stack of unrelated banners. Each module has a single job, and together they carry the shopper from curiosity to confidence.

  • Open with the brand: a strong header banner that establishes who the brand is and what it stands for, so the product is seen as part of something trustworthy.
  • Benefits, not specs: key features presented as clear, visual benefit modules — one idea per panel, with short copy that survives a quick scroll.
  • Show it in real life: lifestyle imagery that places the product in everyday use, helping shoppers picture it in their own routine.
  • Explain how it works: step-by-step or detail panels that remove confusion about use, setup or what's in the box.
  • One visual language: consistent colors, typography and layout throughout, so the A+ section feels like a premium brand page rather than a collection of separate graphics.

Design Standards

Designed to Pass Amazon's Review First Time

A+ Content is reviewed by Amazon before it goes live, and a rejection means resubmitting and waiting again. Every module was built against Amazon's A+ guidelines from the start.

  • Exact module dimensions: every image exported at the pixel sizes Amazon's A+ modules require, so nothing is stretched, cropped or softened on upload.
  • Mobile-first readability: A+ modules shrink heavily on phones, so every line of text was sized and contrast-checked at mobile width before sign-off.
  • Guideline-safe copy: no pricing, discounts, time-sensitive offers, guarantees or competitor references — the most common reasons A+ submissions are rejected.
  • Keyword-rich alt text: descriptive image alt text written for every module, adding relevant search terms to the listing behind the scenes.
The Process

How the A+ Content Came Together

Step 01

Brand & Competitor Research

Reviewed the brand's positioning and studied the A+ Content of top competitors to find what they explained well — and what they left out entirely.

Step 02

Story & Module Planning

Mapped the shopper's questions and doubts, then chose the A+ modules and their order so each one answers the next question in line.

Step 03

Copywriting & Design

Wrote short, benefit-led copy for each module and designed the full layout in a single visual system matched to the brand.

Step 04

Review, Upload & Approval

Checked every module on mobile and desktop, verified guideline compliance, and delivered upload-ready files with alt text for a smooth approval.
